About
Gini Wade is a printmaker/painter specialising in lithography. Recently her practice has extended to making large oil paintings. Her images are figurative and often narrative. In a previous life she was a children’s book illustrator and author, until she learnt the magical art of lithography while doing a Fine Art MA at Aberystwyth University, and at the Tamarind Institute, USA.
She exhibits widely both nationally and internationally. Her work is included in many collections. She has taught printmaking in Aberystwyth, China, Hong Kong and Guatemala, and was the lithography tutor at the Sidney Nolan Trust, Herefordshire, from 2010 – 2017. She was a longtime director of Aberystwyth Printmakers and writes articles on printmaking. She is lives and works in Mid Wales.
Statement
I am fascinated by the power that ancient myths have to shape our modern imagination. My work explores interactions and transformations between the human, natural and symbolic realms. Many of my images reflect my belief in the power of music, dance and art to invoke joy in the face of the dark side of life.
Many of Gini Wade's editioned original prints are available to buy.
